Welcome to Indian Defence Yearbook
IDYB - Nineteenth Year of Publication
The Indian Defence Yearbook is published on 1 July each year. It is the best annual journal on Indian defence matters as well as a force multiplier for companies which wish to expand the boundaries of their business.
Indian Defence Yearbook, edited by Maj. Gen. R K Arora, has been described by India Today as the "Definitive Compendium on the Armed Forces".

Besides being recommended by the Army Headquarters for its officers for its professional content, IDYB has the basic information considered essential for businesses to have an edge over others to expand their business in the defence sector. One half of the Yearbook is devoted to analyses of defence issues and the other to equipment.
IDYB is replete with details of equipment in use and under development in the armed forces - land systems, aeronautical systems, naval, communications, vehicles and logistics. IDYB also has useful information about the defence budget, modernization plans of the three Services, paramilitary forces and the second line of defence.
It also assesses the annual performance of the eight defence PSUs. One can find articles on efforts being made towards indigenisation and simplification of procedures for better defence-industry partnership.
With the defence market opening up to the private sector, particularly after the Kargil conflict, there has been a need for a book which contains enough for businesses to know more about the armed forces and their requirements, to be able to do business with them. IDYB foots the bill.
IDYB's reach extends to Government officials dealing with defence, armed forces personnel, defence industry, research establishments and production units.
IDYB should serve as a valuable reference book for readers who wish to learn about India's defence and security issues and technical details of equipment. IDYB achieves a delicate balance in content between defence analyses and equipment specifications. Of particular relevance is the inclusion of details of modernization of the BSF, Territorial Army, Assam Rifles, CISF, Rashtriya Rifles, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Coast Guard and other forces.
The first edition of the Indian Defence Yearbook was released by the President of India, Dr SD Sharma, in June 1997. Since then, IDYB has grown into India's most respected and widely circulated defence yearly journal.
